When I first started the track and began to relax, I tried to do what the speaker was telling me to do. After a minute, I became more aware of my body and alert to what the speaker was saying. As soon as my energy started to come back, I started to feel antsy. I don't think these kinds of exercises are for me. My arms never felt heavy or warm. I merely got the urge to move, like I had ants in my pants. Guess I just have a really hard time settling down.
Lol Oh Staci maybe you just need a different kind of guided meditation, like just the breathing.

Hi Staci,
ReplyDeleteI would highly suggest you watch Celestial Journey relaxation video I found on YouTube a couple of years ago. I found it easier to stay still and remain relaxed when I had something to watch and listen to at the same time. I am a visual person to begin with and being able watch something helped me. I have posted the link below for you. Enjoy!!

I know what you mean, Staci. Sometimes it's hard to be relaxed enough to focus on relaxing! This one I found to be easier, but the ones that tell you to clear your mind only get me to think of anything and everything at once. This one may not be your cup of tea, but I know there has to be a perfect one for you out there somewhere!

Staci,
ReplyDeleteI agree it is strange. I am one for not letting go of control. always on guard and the idea of just relaxing is foreign to me. My world is organized disorganized chaos each day and night. So to allow myself to let go an just be is unusual. I will continue to try and see myself letting go and allow the days stress slide away. My chiropractor always finds me tense during each adjustment session. But I think with time these exercises could help ease some of the stress and allow me to relax and become calmer.

Hello Staci,
ReplyDeleteUnderstandable, trying anything for the first time is going to have some difficulty. I think that the solution is to keep practicing the technique and every time is going to have a different experience and before you know it you will be enjoying those relaxation feelings and leaving behind the ants in your pants. Thank you for sharing. Jewel
Thanks for the try TeriLea but it didn't help. I'm a massage therapist and even massage doesn't help me to relax anymore!!! I think I may try some guided meditation and begin a new exercise regimen soon. I have to do something- my stress is eating away at me. There is something about the quiet that I find so unnerving. I need music (of the loud and rowdy variety) and a good workout to really feel relaxed. But at the same time, it energizes me, too. :)Thanks for all of your responses guys- I feel the blog love!
